Part 2, Customer Who Had Everything... #InteriorDesign #InteriorDecorating

May 09, 2014 - 0 comments
Continuing from Part 1... Just a recap, Vada, the customer and now friend, contacted Kasey & I about decorating her house she recently moving into in 2013. The reason I was so excited about this project is because Vada had collected and inherited so many antiques it was like ToysRUs for "junk" collectors. Vada also made it easy for us to design her spaces because she knew exactly what she wanted....sometimes....well, let's just say she knew what she wanted but can not have 4 chandeliers in a dining room.  But that does sounds like a a great challenge for a future client...ok, back on track. Let's save the dining room for next week. Kasey & I started a secret pin board on Pinterest that we all three could add too.  I can not explain how great of a tool Pinterest is for design work. It gives a visual picture with out spending millions of hours cutting up magazines to paste to card board with 3 optional fabric choices. (old school, don't hate) Vada sent this pin to us and said, "I want my entry way to look JUST like this." Vada's entry way (photo credit: FarmHousePorch)   Vada had already had the entry way table, so I painted it a light blue. Use left over material from the kitchen chairs, grabbed the metal candle holder from the top of her cabinets, and most of the rest came from my inventory. Hashtag is all about recycling the decor you already have to save money. Vada recently fell in love with old bed springs, and she had recently picked up some from the Wimberley Market, so added them to the basket underneath. Perfect! How did we do? The Customer Who Had It All... #interiordecorating #buttloadsofantiques

May 08, 2014 - 0 comments
Get ready for a novel....Part 1 of 5 or maybe 6. Vada emailed Kasey and I explaining that she had bought a house in August of 2013 and wanted our help to finish decorating.  Before we scheduled a time to meet, we asked if we could look at her Pinterest account to get a feel for her style. Pinterest is a perfect tool to use for that purpose. Our first thoughts, "we got this!"  Vada's style is "Hashtag".  Antiques used in modern designs to create a clean homey environment. The reason I titled this post "The customer who had it all" is because Vada had collected or inherited old pieces of nostalgia and antiques that Kasey & I treasure hunt for everyday.  You will see what I am talking about in the next few posts. Vada wanted a complete dining room, living room, breakfast nook, and entry way.  We decided on a blue paint for the dining room walls and a light gray paint for the rest of the house. While Vada painted the walls and I think her husband took the SOME light switches down, Kasey & I started on the space planning for each room and working on a budget.  We knew we would save alot of money by using the amazing antiques Vada already had for the small decorations and tchotchkes, so our first mission was to find the big furniture pieces. Joey Turns 4 #happybirthday

Apr 01, 2014 - 0 comments
When we were deciding whether or not to add to our family of 4, Joey had already been in my tummy for 5 weeks.  His birth was the easiest of the three and was born a natural mohawk just like his dad.  We were all so excited to have a new toy to play with.   Joey's birth   A few things about Joash Christopher Clayton: He was named after a king in the bible.  A strong leader. He does not like when other people sing.  He will quietly yet sternly say, "shut your mouth." Joey has a love for transportation. I have followed many trains, helicopters, trash trucks just to make him happy. He requested a street cleaner for Christmas. He loves, loves his big brothers. They are the law to him. Out of the three boys, Joey is the most affectionate and most polite. Every morning I get a "it's morning time...I love you....See how much I have grown."  Always gives Bless You's and please & thank you's.  This goes along with our theory of him being our own Benjamin Button...an old soul. Joey is such a joy.  I am proud to be his mom.  As Joey says "I am in love with loving you and I love your eyeballs." 2014-03-27 19.17.55 2014-03-27 19.19.19 2014-03-27 19.14.40 2014-03-27 19.17.43 2014-03-27 19.12.59 2014-03-15 12.09.18 2014-03-17 13.37.45

Antique Telephone Table

Mar 10, 2014 - 0 comments
Living in Austin, I receive a lot of requests for smaller furniture because there are a ton of old houses and college students. A cute little telephone table is a must have for those tight quarters. The drawer is functional. $39.00 update: 3/10/2014 SOLD 20130218-001409.jpg 20130218-001419.jpg 20130218-001427.jpg 20130218-001432.jpg

1980's TV console transformed #tvconsole #reuse

Imagine a Saturday morning as a kid watching cartoons in the middle of the living room floor. Many of you will remember watching on one of these. 20140226-212512.jpg When a sweet lady offered this outdated TV set to me, I immediately thought of the one I had pinned on Pinterest. YES! I started by gutting and ripping out all the parts to what used to be a working TV when it was placed in my possession. A moment of silence while a few of you yell at me... Ok back to the destruction. Here are a few pictures of some of the guts that got ripped out. 20140226-214854.jpg 20140226-214904.jpg Then the painting began! I painted two coats on by hand then three coats of spray paint. Ahhh I love white paint on almost anything, clean, crisp and timeless!!! 20140226-215131.jpg Shelves were added and then the newest paint color I am obsessed with (Fish Pond by Behr), burlap and a new knob. Voila here's the final piece. Come see her, I've named her Jennifer because it was the most popular girls name in 1984 at Wimberley this weekend! Booth 189. $175 20140226-215850.jpg 20140226-215903.jpg 20140226-215915.jpg 20140226-215953.jpg 20140226-220023.jpg 20140226-220034.jpg 20140226-220040.jpg
